I just finished re-reading the Empire Trilogy by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. The last time I read it was more than ten years ago; I liked it a lot then, and I found that I still do. It’s fantasy, of a not too common sort: the main character doesn’t do weapons or magic. She's just smart. There isn’t very much magic in the story at all, and no dragons; there are armies and fighting, but the meat of the story is politics, plotting, and intrigue.
I’d recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy at all.
